5th Stage: Children and work

Young people in various parts of the world go to school and do work part time. These small jobs help gain a sense of responsibility.

In some countries, however, children after school are forced to work to help their family, in other countries they are enslaved, can not attend any kind of education and they work in inhuman conditions and without any rights.

- Have you ever wondered who makes the footballs you play with?
- Many kids your age like to wear jeans. They are comfortable and are great wear when you go out with your friends. Do you know who packed your jeans?
- In bags of chips or other food you can find small toys. But wait: who manufactured these?

  2. Making money with your work and not receive a gift, does this makes you feel happier?
  3. Are there laws in your country that decide the age at which you can start working?
  4. What kind of work can the children find when they begin to work for the first time and not have a specific qualification?

  1. Childrens like to have permission to buy things. What kind of things do you like to buy? Make a poster with the objects of your purchases.
  2. Take a survey among your peers: which jobs are most popular and easy to find in your area? Then make a chart with the answers.
