In general, a two-thirds vote is required for any motion that takes rights away from members. Such rights include the right to be informed of pending action, to conduct business by known and established rules, to debate, and to vote. The following motions require a two-thirds vote in all cases:
Previous Question (close debate)
Limit or Extend Debate
Close Nominations or Close the Polls
Object to the Consideration of a Question
Suspend the Rules
In some cases, a majority vote is sufficient when previous notice is given. The following motions take a two-thirds vote without previous notice or a majority vote with previous notice:
Rescind
Amend Something Previously Adopted
Discharge a Committee
