Web Contents Advice
Kidlink addresses
many audiences, including kids and
youth, teachers, and
sponsors. Each audience has different
needs and wishes.
Kidlink
wants to give each audience personalized information with a high degree of
relevancy. To do this, it tailors a
series of key navigation pages (portals), and related information pages.
The web publishing organization
Kidlink's
Executive Director is directly
responsible for the total web publishing effort.
The following key
organizational units supports the work:

| Web Contents Advice - advice on contents that meets the various
audiences' needs. Reports to the
Executive Director. |

Web Design Advice - advice
on visual presentation of the web pages (illustrations, fonts, design, etc.).
Owner of the webdesign list at kidlink.org. Reports to the
Executive Director.

Technical Web Support
- advice on programming, databases, etc. Creates databases, interactive pages,
technical solutions, new search tools, metadata, editor tools, mirror
administration, statistics, logfile analyses, interfaces to Listserv, c2d.
Handling emergency web upload problems for contents producers. Reports to
the Technical Director.

Special Web Projects
- special focus on major programs, KI/E pages. Reports to the
Executive Director.

Language Area Managers
- responsible for the information provided to their users in accordance with
Kidlink's
web publishing strategy. This
includes translations of general
information pages, and development of language specific information pages.
Reports to the Language Area
Directors.

Translation Team - support
language area managers' translation efforts. Reports to the
Technical Director.
Each organizational unit builds suited work teams. We plan an upgrade of
how our current project information is being presented (database approach).

Web Contents Advice Functions
Our information pages must be inviting, relevant, clear, use approporate
terminology, and use good, instructive examples.
WCA renders advice to
the owners of source content:

To the Executive Director regarding pages belonging to
Kidlink's official
self-presentation; and
Kidlink's
web strategy. The alias going
to webmaster will now go to the Executive Director.

To language area management and their teams regarding their areas'
language specific pages.
This may include the areas'
translations of
Kidlink's official
self-presentation, and use of the languages'
special characters.

To
Kidlink and KI/E
development staff, regarding pages relating to educational programs.

To
Kidlink's various
staff units regarding their pages.
Ownership of the online
advertisement page for web
helpers is planned to be transferred to WCA, and may be used to support
recruiting. Owner of the pages at
http://www.kidlink.org/www/
WCA builds various teams
with good inside knowledge of the various audiences to provide good advice
regarding contents for the various audiences. For example, the team providing
advice on our pages for kids and youth must have members of
Kidlink's eligible
ages.
