Depending on how much you have done, and what rights you have been
given, this is what you should do:
-
If you are just translating
the text
(not html), send to the person in charge of the area of which this page is
a part. If you do not know who that might be, send to
Kidlink's
webmaster. Send as an email, or an email attachment.
Others will complete the translation by
turning it into a web page.
It is always best to send your translated page as an email attachment, using
the same file name as the original page. In the text of your email,
provide the full web address of the page you have translated. Example:
http://www.kidlink.org/english/general/overview.html . In this way, the received
will not have to search to find out what page you have translated.
Some users have difficulties sending web pages as attachments, and they show
up as part of the email's text for the receiver. Usually, this is caused
by the settings of the sender's email program. Here are some hints for users
of MS Outlook:
-
At the Tools menu, there's a Send tab. At the bottom, there's
"Mail Sending Format" specified as either HTML or Plain Text. Set
this to Plain Text as default. (This also makes your emails easier
to read by those who are not having email programs with html capabilities.)
-
Click "Plain Text Settings", and set it to: "MIME (encode text using:
NONE)".
-
Finally, close Outlook, and open it again
-
If you deliver the translation as a web page, and do not have
rights to store it on our web, send to the person in charge of the area of
which this page is a part. If you do not know who that might be, please send
to
Kidlink's
webmaster. Send as an email attachment.
Others will complete the web page, check links, and post it to the
web.
-
If you have rights to store the translation to the web:
-
Use an FTP program to put the new page to the appropriate directory.
See the Webguide.
-
Try locate other translated pages that should link to your newly translated
page, and warn owners of these pages about your new page and its link.
Hint: The dirinfo.html page in this directory might help. Make sure you tell
the language area manager about the new web address.

Oh! Something must be
changed!
