History

  The Kidlink Institute (KI) was idealized by the Top Director Project Team (Odd de Presno/Norway, Lára Stefánsdóttir/Islander and Marisa Lucena/Brazil) in Arendal - Norway, on April, 17th 1997 and was approved as a Stiftelsen Kidlink division by the Board of Directors, on June, 17th 1997.
   It was presented, officially, for the Kidlink Society Coordinators in Copenhagen, Denmark, in August 1998, during the III International Kidlink Meeting.
   From the beginning of 1998, the KI begun its activities, centering them in Education and Technology areas.
 

Organization

   The KI has a central direction and two departments - Research and Education - each one with its specifics acts, however with permanent interaction.
 

1. Research Department

Objective

   The main goal of the Research Department is encourage Education and Social Science researches based on Kidlink repositories which store the development of old and current projects.
   KI-R aims to establish partnerships with research institutes interested in using its archives (address lists and projects documentation). Resources being from financed research projects of KI-R partners will allow the institute to supply specialized support in the use of the archives, what is not possible to offer without costs, because of limited volunteer features Kidlink counts.
  Partnership's agreements are individually negotiated and typically include an agreement through which the interested researcher pays with its sponsored project a fixed tax to access Kidlink resources during a specified period of time. The tax will be reinvested on the continued development of the Kidlink project.
 

KI-R Organization

   The KI-R team is formed by international and famous researchers from inside and outside Kidlink community and has as main functions to accept associate researchers, to evaluate proposals of research projects and to elaborate a periodical, based on signatures. This periodical will be the media to publish articles of research (judgeships for arbitrators) in partner-cultural aspects related with Kidlink activities and projects, present special sections on research methodologies, suggestions of subjects for research projects, etc.
 

2. Training Department

Goal

   The main goal of the Education Department is to offer formal training on Kidlink content for teachers, parents, Education departments of universities and other education institutions, government and other individuals interested in Kidlink activities.

· Kidlink in general, mainly for controllers of the area of Education and people interested in the structure and functional organization of Kidlink
· How we can use Kidlink in the classroom
· Way to work and Kidlink projects
· How to moderate and lead a topic or a Kidlink project
· Kidlink to children
· Children in the Internet, what thy can make? The Kidlink proposal.

· Local training given by Kidlink specialists

Perspectives

   The success and good performance of KI initiatives will depend on the participation of its members, on the adhesion of new teachers and researchers, as well as on its spreading.
   The credibility to be acquired with its work connected to an efficient spreading will be the main components so that KI fulfills its mission of education and research. The Kidlink community will be, therefore, the main feature of this new cooperative space directed to the improvement of the quality from the educational system of any country.
