Kidlink
wants to offer tailored versions of its
Who-Am-I? program to indigenous youth around the
world. This free, eight-month program is built around
the following modules:
Our cause is empowerment and development of youth. We want to help strengthen indigenous youth's self-assessment so that they can meet peers in other language and cultural areas on an equal level. To support the cause, training of teachers is instrumental. We not only work with them, but make them work together with us and become active elements of our approach using a strategy that works perfectly with teachers of every background. Who-Am-I? is run in parallel in many languages through Kidlink's infrastructure on the Internet. The first cycle started in September 1998. Since then, it has been repeated annually: Initially, once with a schedule for schools and youth on the northern hemisphere, and once for the southern hemisphere. InvitationKidlink has long experience serving youth in poor areas - including street kids. In Brazil and Mexico we do this through our "KHouse" community centers. However, most of the time we work with teachers and classes who already have the required minimum computer equipment and knowledge for electronic mail. As there will always be many kids that Kidlink is unable to serve, we invite NGOs, Ministries of Education, and corporate sponsors to work with us so that more disadvantaged youth can benefit from the Who-Am-I? experience. We are particularly interested in serving indigenous kids, and propose a joint venture to maximize the potential effects of the program for such groups.
An arrangement in which our partners independently can pursue their own objectives while using the Who-Am-I? program as an element in their individual fundraising, and subsequent field work.
