Welcome to the Who-Am-I? program

General introduction for teachers

Hello!

To join the Who-Am-I? program, you must do the following:

  1. Decide what language to participate in. Your options are English, Norwegian, Danish, Saami, German, French, Icelandic, Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese. (More languages may be added later).
  2. Find the name of the desired mailing lists used for participants in your desired language(s).
  3. Subscribe to the desired mailing lists.

Example: You want to participate in Norwegian. The list for teachers (see below) is Kidleader-Norsk. Subscribe by sending an email to Listserv@listserv.nodak.edu. Put the following command in the body of your message (as line 1):

    subscribe kidleader-norsk Your-Full-Name

If your name is Ole Olsen, then this line should be "subscribe kidleader-norsk Ole Olsen". Subscribe to the other lists that you want for you and your students in the same way.

  4. Have your students answer Kidlink's required four questions before you let them in on the program.
Note 1: Your students can start on Module 1 without answering the questions as making the answers is part of the module's contents.
Note 2: Your students' answers to these questions should not be submitted more than once.

Subscribing your students: Say you want your students to participate in English, and you want them to work through only one email account named "Eydehamn Skole, 9. klasse". Subscribe them to the KIDWAI mailing list by sending an email to Listserv@listserv.nodak.edu. Put the following command in the body of your message (as line 1):

subscribe kidwai Eydehamn Skole, 9. klasse
Hint: Click here if only have one email account for the school.

  5. Joining the modules is easy.

Those who are subscribed to the mailing list for teachers from the start of a module, will receive the coordinator's announcement telling everybody to get started.

If you arrive in the mailing list too late for this announcement, just read the module's guidelines and lesson plans, and get going.

If in doubt, send an email to the Language Area Coordinator, or send your question to the relevant mailing list for teachers.

Note: In most months, more than one module will be run. Therefore, participants must use the subject line to distinguish between the modules. Please do this by preceding the text on the subject line with the following codes as follows:

    Module name Module code
    Who Am I? WAI:
    Where Do I Live? WHERE:
    What Are My Rights? RIGHTS:
    My Friends and Family FRIENDS:
    What are My Roots? ROOTS:

Joining KIDLINK - subscribing

You cannot send mail to our KIDLINK lists unless you are subscribed to them. Information is available to show you how to do this. You must subscribe to all lists that you and your students are to participate in.

Answering the 4 KIDLINK questions

The first time that students enter KIDLINK they are required to answer the 4 KIDLINK questions. Students do not have to answer the 4 questions more than one time during their Kidlink years.

Module 1 of the Who-Am-I? program is created to help your students answer the four questions. You can use this module in your classroom throughout the duration of our program. Alternatively, you can use Kidlink's standard procedure as explained at our  RESPONSE page. This may require less work.
