Kidlink Network Infrastructure

Computer Systems

The Office of Technology in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, provides a "virtual server" for Kidlink's web pages and many other computing needs. The virtual server does not exist as a separate physical machine; instead one very powerful machine is set up to look like several different machines. . The system runs:

  • Our KidCom collaborative server.
  • our internal mailing lists on Listserv software from L-Soft International Inc.
  • our over 100,000 pages web site (our webtree was about 900MB in December 2001)
  • a private "chat" network

There's also kidspace.kidlink.org, which runs on a Dell 4250 server.

Public Mailing Lists

North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND, USA, provides central network support (e-mail distribution, file and archives storage, technical support) for the Kidlink public mailing lists.
