Who-Am-I?
Background information

Kidlink has extensive experience with educational
programs that motivate students to write and learn.
It is a mature approach that our teachers have used
in classrooms since 1990. We know it works!

The new thing with the Who-Am-I? program is that we have selected our most successful projects and activities, combined them into an integrated, multi-lingual program, and tailored it for teachers. It has been designed to help protect participating languages and cultures, motivate collaboration between students by sharing cultural information, and build friendships throughout the world.

The program's inner workings

Kidlink's mailing lists will be the primary delivery mechanism, supplemented by Kidlink's private chat network. Students will support and enhance their program dialog by posting multi-media web pages on www.kidlink.org.
If Kidlink does not already have mailing lists for teachers and students in your language, we will help you set on up. We may also ask your country's educational authorities for financial support to get it done. We are doing this in several countries.
The complete program is translated from English into all officially participating languages: Module descriptions; Teacher tips; Lessons; Links to resources; Module guidelines; Answers to Frequently Asked Questions. Officially participating languages are languages supported by local educational authorities.
If translation is not yet being taken care of for your language, we will help you apply for financial support to get it done. Translations can also be done by volunteers, or you can use the program descriptions in other participating language .

Coordination and support

The program has been developed by experienced Kidlink teachers, and skilled Kidlinkers coordinate the program's schedule across language areas and provide teacher support. They have good knowledge about how the Kidlink infrastructure works, experience with the topics in their own classrooms, and know how to work well with people in a multi-cultural environment.
Each official language area have a language coordinator. This person works directly with the teachers for the duration of the program, by providing help, and acting as a mentor.

Must I sign up for eight months?

No. You may participate with your students in the whole program, or in selected modules only. However, all your students must complete the first part of Module 1 (Who am I?) before they can start. (Note that this activity may be taken out of turn through Kidlink's Response service.)
Your class may participate in other languages than their own. Multiple language activities are encouraged.

Learning from colleagues

The great advantage of working within a structured program together with many other schools around the world is in networking with colleagues through Kidlink's "teacher rooms." Here, experiences and answers to help requests can efficiently be dealt with by peers working on the same items in their classrooms. For many, personal links and friendships with teachers having similar background and interests will no doubt continue to be useful long after the conclusion of the program.
Rather than try to make sense out of 1,000 bookmarks for the world wide web, here's a program providing you information in manageable pieces. Clear. Relevant. Concise. By focusing on common goals, and using a proven method, exciting things stands to happen in your classroom.

Your students will love it. After all, the Who-Am-I? program is tailored for them.
