Participation in the Virtual Vacation will allow students to practice many skills and concepts in a variety of subject matter areas.

Language Arts/Writing

  1. Using the steps within the writing process
  2. Writing for different audiences and purposes: to inform, to express personal ideas, to persuade
  3. Writing in different forms including informative essays, posters, postcards
  4. Comparing and contrasting ideas from several sources
  5. Researching local folklore, fables, legends, tales, surroundings
  6. Conducting interviews
  7. Writing an invitation

Math

  1. Calculating basic mathematical operations
  2. Classifying information into categories and using Venn diagrams
  3. Comparing different currencies and prices in different countries
  4. Sample detail curriculum connections with life-skill links

Social Studies

  1. Learning about recreational activities and sports in other countries
  2. Describing holidays, festivals and local customs
  3. Collecting regional recipes
  4. Using maps to locate countries

Domestic Science

  1. Collecting recipes for dishes special to your country
  2. Preparing dishes from recipes from your area and/or other areas/countries
