You will find many discussion questions and classroom activities in each weekly lesson. No one is expected to do them all! We give you many ideas but feel free to use those that are appropriate for your class.

Module Description:

The 'What Are My Rights?' module is part of an overall program called Who-Am-I?

This module opens by asking the students to think about the meaning of the word, 'rights'. They will discuss the rights that they believe all kids everywhere should have. We guide them through discussion questions on issues important to kids today. They think about rights that they want to have. The focus is on 'I' at this point rather than on kids who are in far away countries. Weekly discussions include their rights to be themselves, to be different yet accepted by others, to be heard, to be protected from harm, to have a childhood without burdens of adult work and their right to have an education in whatever form is appropriate for their culture.

Teachers are encouraged to use their own imagination and ideas within this program. The description is only a guide but other things related to the topic are always welcome.

We gently move them by the end of the eight weeks to consider kids around the world who do not even have the basic rights that they enjoy.
