Who-Am-I? program. Below, you will find a description
and time line of the module and also its goals and objectives.
Kidlink teachers who will also assist you in the implementation within your classroom created this module. We know these lessons will be an enjoyable learning experience for you and your students. Module 1: Who Am I?In the first lesson the students will start to know more about themselves and who they are. They will learn more about their own history by studying the significance and traditions behind their names. They will introduce themselves to the other students participating in the program module and will share the interesting stories about the meaning and use of names in their different countries. They will learn how animal names are different in the different countries. They will interview their parents to know interesting stories about their names and share them with each other. They will find out about each other's favorite music and dances. In the second lesson the students get a little bit farther into the process of knowing themselves and each other better. They find out about the different options there are for their future in their respective countries and communities. They learn about careers and opportunities and what characteristics a person should have to perform certain jobs. They tell each other about their favorite occupations. The students form a committee to select the best candidates for certain positions. They choose some students to interview others and obtain a first hand experience in "job hunting". During the third lesson students develop their ideas for a better world. They look around themselves to see what they like and dislike about the situation of their communities. They try to find out what things are endangering the environment. They share with each other their ideas of war and peace. They ask each other about their dreams and worries. They learn about the dreams and worries of children in other communities and other countries. In weeks 7 and 8 we have a group of students that now know the experience of a global classroom. In the last two weeks students share the necessity of a "global wellness". They enlist the help of each other to produce ideas for a compromise. In this lesson they have to form their ideas on a serious compromise. They have to find ways to help make a better world starting now. At the end of each lesson your students will answer the question discussed in that lesson. At the end of the 8 weeks your students will send in their answers. There are many optional discussion questions and activities in each lesson. Choose all those that you think you can do with your students. You may add your own special activities too.
