Proposal Brazil:
Prepare Less Privileged
Children For Life

Program to reduce poverty
and social apartheid

Left: Girls in a Rio de Janeiro "Kidlink House"

Kidlink's activities in Brazil | Norwegian | Português

Inspire the children to wish for a better future. Train them in life-skills and basic e-skills to improve their chances of employment when they grow older. Strengthen self-esteem, critical thinking, problem solving, and cooperation. Provide an important basic complement to knowledge they receive in school. Motivate them to learn.

Less privileged children in Brazil have no access to computer and Internet access at home or at school, and are deprived of this opportunity to acquire skills needed in future jobs.

How?

  1. Set up telecentres for training of children (full-time, or after hours in an existing computerlab)
    • Serve children of less privileged communities, 10 - 15 years of age
    • Provide life-skills training based on Kidlink's educational programs
    • Provide funding for 3 years's operation, then hand over to local stakeowners
  2. Publish information about the project and results.

The first step: Make a detailed plan

  1. Find potential local partners to host a telecenter ("Kidlink Houses")
  2. Budget
    • Translate life-skills training and curriculum connection contents into Portuguese
    • Provide computers and the Internet
    • Train telecenter staffs
    • Monitor (research) the program's effect on the children and their lives
  3. Discuss recommendations with sponsor(s)
