Eight Years?

| Español |

"Culture cannot leap forward. You can leapfrog technology: You can go from the drum to telephone very quickly. But as a society, you cannot leapfrog.

To be able to do so would imply having a destination that is well defined."

Wawa Ngege, Cameroon's national coordinator of the United Nations Development program, 1999.

  • Most youth participating in the program will need 5 - 8 years to make an impact in their local communities.
  • Teachers - as a group - may need 5 - 8 years to develop a mature and efficient way of sharing experiences, student results, and cooperation.
  • Several Who-Am-I? program cycles may have to be run before teachers can publish student results with a potential for really making a difference when communicating with other cultures (and other teachers in their own area).
  • The language area may need 5 -8 years to "pay back" the investments made by sponsors by building a sustainable Kidlink support organization of volunteers.
