 Early Life

A renowned civil rights activist Medgar Evers was born July 2nd, 1925 in Decatur Mississippi. Growing up in Mississippi farming family, Evers was drafted into the US Army in 1943 he fought both France and Germany in World War 2, and received an honorable discharge in 1946. In 1948 he entered Alcorn college now called Alcorn State University in law Lorman Mississippi.

 During his senior years Evers married a fellow student named Myrlie Beasley. Fighting Against Racial Discrimination

Evers applied to the University of Mississippi law school in February 1954. After being rejected he volunteered to help the NAACP tried to integrate the anniversary with a lawsuit.
