北京三十五中学始建于1923年，其前身为志成中学，革命先驱李大钊烈士曾任学校董事会董事。1949年改名为新生中学，1952年定为北京市第三十五中学。经过八十年风雨，几代人的辛勤耕耘，2005年被北京市教委认定为北京市示范性高中。是一所全面育人，特色鲜明，质量稳定的重点中学。学校一线教师队伍中有市级骨干教师6人，区级学科带头人18人，特级教师1人，高级教师60余人，研究生学历8人。
学校一贯坚持以德育为首，以教学为中心，以学生为主体，高质量的上好每一节必修课，开设丰富的选修课和活动课。高一，高二年级共设40余门选修课和120多个研究性学习课题小组，使学生获得全面发展，并且学有特长。
学校是北京市篮球项目传统校，初、高中男女篮球队在市区各种比赛中成绩优异。我校有一支隶属北京金帆艺术团的金帆民乐团，多次在市区演出比赛中获优异成绩，多次代表北京市出访欧美国家和地区，2001和2003年参加港澳台及内地民乐大赛，获最高奖项“阳光奖”第一名。我校中国鼓乐团参加2005年北京电视台春节联欢的演出。学校还有自己的舞蹈队、合唱团、体育俱乐部，青心社、学生自主管理委员会等学生社团，为有特长和有兴趣的同学提供了多种发展和展现才能的机会。
