My name is JoAnne Hoeffner, I teach 8th and 9th grade science at Mardela Middle High School in Mardela Springs, Maryland, USA.  Our school of about 650 students, grades 6-12, is a rural school near Barren Creek which flows into the Nanticoke River, a main tributary of the the Chesapeake Bay.  We are very proud of our school, students and community.  I teach 4 classes of 8th graders and one class of 9th graders during a 180 day school year.  In science, my 8th graders learn a little weather, astronomy, history of the earth, chemistry and physics.  My 9th graders are taking the high school Earth Science course.
