Alconbury Middle/High School

Alconbury High School
APO AE 09470
(England)

Alconbury High (and) Middle School is a little American school in the middle of Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England.  It is on a little Air Force Base called Alconbury.  Our school has a grand total of 250 students.  Our class is on the bottom of 3 floors in the sixth grade hallway, in Mrs. Wilson’s classroom.  In seminar we go to assemblies, do homework, do late work and stuff like that.  It is kind of like a homeroom.

England is “A Okay!” place to live. Almost everyone lives within 30 minutes of R.A.F. Alconbury.  Our school location is about 25 minutes away from Cambridge and 2 hours from London.

Good luck to all of you!

 Barneveld School

Barneveld WI 53507

We are the entire seventh grade class (all 24 of us) at Barneveld School in Barneveld, Wisconsin . Mr. Ryan is our social studies teacher, and Mrs. Roenneburg, our librarian, is helping us. Barneveld is 30 miles west of Madison, Wisconsin’s capital. We are a small village of about 1000 people, with about another 1000 people living in the country. All of our kids go to one school. There are some big dairy farms right outside town, but most of our parents work in Madison , or in nearby Dodgeville, the home of the mail order company Lands End. Our school nickname is the Eagles, and we are kind of a sports-crazy place.

Our village was almost destroyed by a powerful tornado in 1984, but people and businesses rebuilt. We are real excited about having the chance to participate in this contest.

We are all from Russia. Our names are Ilya, Sasha, Mathew, Ivan and Kolya. We live in Krasnoyarsk, and study at the same school. We are all friends. We are very friendly and love sports! We are fond of skating, biking, skiing, parkour and other extreme sports! Our favourite parkour band is called "fireway". It is one of the most famous bands in Krasnoyarsk! But we are interested not only in sport, everyone in our team is individual. Mathew is keen on tennis, Ilya plays the guitar, Sasha is a virtual sportsman, Kolya and Ivan are excellent players of checkers. We are all together because we extremely love English.  We hope our puzzles will be hard, challenging and interesting for our opponents.

Narragansett, RI

Hello!

We live in Narragansett, Rhode Island along the Atlantic Ocean in the United States of America. Narragansett is a small town with about 14,000 people who live here.  There are about 550 students in our Kindergarten through Fourth Grade elementary school. The name of our school is Narragansett Elementary and we are students in Mrs. Ward-Bowen’s fourth grade class. Besides reading, writing, mathematics and science, we have Origami afternoon on Fridays where we learn to fold paper into shapes and objects.  We are concerned about global warming and the environment so our class composts and recycles whenever we can.  There is an osprey nest on the light pole outside our classroom.  We decided to watch the ospreys and each of us is writing a book about what we have learned from observing them.

We are looking forward to playing the game Hunt for Country Capitals and wish good luck to all the teams.

Sincerely,
