New developments
"I
have
a
dream,"
the new
Kidlink educational
program currently under development. The first module is now finished and
ready for inspection. Developers are
Eygló Björnsdóttir
and Hilda Torfadóttir of Iceland
. Please
drop them a note and tell them what you think. (Note: This is still work
in progress so some links are not yet working.)
The focus of the
program will be to provide enhanced learning experiences in schools. For
example, it will address learner outcomes in math, science, language arts,
social studies, reading, writing, etc.; challenge students to do something
with their dreams for the future; empower them to take ownership of their
own learning; provide for a variety of learning styles; encourage inquiry
and discovery, including an ongoing process of assessment of student work
by students themselves.
In addition, it
will provide "modern" experiences and skills like
-
the art of planning, designing and implementing an Internet based project
-
promotion/marketing of project ideas (using the web and other net tools)
to potential partners
-
negotiations for partnership, including decisionmaking (ranking methods,
shortlisting, evaluation, making partnership agreements)
-
fundraising
-
international cooperation/project organization, including recruiting
-
use of productivity software to enhance planning, negotiations, cooperation,
fundraising, follow-up, etc.
-
assess outcomes of their project compared with objectives
The
Who-Am-I? Workshop for teachers and technology
facilitators has been translated
into Spanish. Also, we are working hard on simplifying and enhancing
the home pages of the
Who-Am-I?
program. Lesson plans for the first module of the program are now available
in Catalan.

Students in the
northern hemisphere are now doing the
Virtual Vacation module,
while those in the southern hemisphere have just restarted module 1:
"Who Am I?"
