MIDI File Format Our sequences are stored as MIDI File Format '1', that is, in multi-track format. Each track is named as instruments for ease of use. Polyphony and available parts If your synthesizer does not have sufficient multitimbral parts to handle the different instruments, you may have to either mute one or several of the tracks, or combine multiple tracks into one, e. g. strings 1 and strings 2 into a single strings track. Alternately, adding a second synthesizer will solve this problem. You may also notice some notes or parts being cut off or not played at all. This is most likely due to your synthesizer reaching its maximum polyphony, or maximum number of notes able to be played at the one time. You may have to mute one or several tracks, or using your sequencer's editor, reduce chords to single notes. Adding a second synthesizer and directing some of the tracks to it will solve this problem too. Drum Note Assignments The drum and percussion tracks in these MIDI files have been arranged using Roland's drum note GS STANDARD. If you are using a drum machine, keyboard or synthesizer which uses different note assignments, you will have to transpose the drum tracks accordingly. For your convenience, the drum kit has been separated into different tracks for bass drum, snare, hats, crash etc., so that each instrument can be differently transposed to suit your drum machine or synthesizer.
