"1. My name is Jacob. I was born and have lived all 13 years of my life in Washington, DC, USA.
For the last five years, my sister and I (she is 16), have been putting out a newspaper, now normally six pages long, for our block, which has 22 houses on it. We do things like movie reviews, interviews with city politicians, other journalists, and since we *do* live in Washington, museum reviews. Last summer, my sister went to New York to cover the Democratic National Convention with press credentials from Northampton News, my paper.
In addition to my newspaper, I enjoy doing things on my computer, a PC with Windows. I also follow current events avidly.
I go to a small private school here in Washington, Georgetown Day School, although I am not joining Kids '94 as part of it.

2. When people normally ask that question, I say "I have another nine years to think about it, and it's not at the top of my list for decisions." However, I think that, as of now, I would like either to be a journalist or politician (although it is unlikely that I could be elected to a national post, as I am both Jewish and not even from a state). I think that I would enjoy journalism, as following current events is now my hobby, and I at least like to think of myself a journalist now. Further, I would be able to travel around the globe and get paid for it.
I plan to go to college, and probably go beyond in terms of higher education. I hope to be married and have kids.

3. Like everyone, I want "The World to be a Better Place," but how? That's a harder question. Although unlikely, a cease to warfare would be nice, albeit impractical.
As I think of my self as left wing, and depending on the current political mood, a socialist, I would like to see low, if not nonexistent, unemployment; a world where everyone got unlimited health care; a world where one's civil liberties are never questioned; and a world where no country has to live under dictatorship, unless they have voted for it (as I believe they have in Russia).

4. I am tempted to me practical and say Nothing--I can do nothing as a child to further the Cause--to work for making the world a better place. Rather, I will be idealistic and say that, yes there are things I can do. I can participate in conversations--much l ike this one--and talk about it. I can write letters to my elected representatives (although as I am in Washington, I have few, and being under voting age, I have none that really care what I say) letting them know of my opinions, and I can send money to Amnesty International and Asia Watch and Greenpeace and the like. But other than that, I will have to listen to good '60s protest music (like Phil Oachs) and wait for my time to come."
