Newsletter #2 in Russian (Cyrillic)
The KIDS-94 Newsletter,
Issue Number 2. November 10, 1993,
was translated into Russian using Cyrillic characters by Michael M. Rusinov
(email: HOLYNATURE@GLAS.APC.ORG), assisted by two children: Tanya Bobckova
and Alyosha Stolyarov:
The original version gave complex instructions about how to read the newsletter, to put it mildly. We will give you two "easier" options. To read it how it really looks, retrieve news294c.zip (154,404 bytes). Extract all files to a new directory on your disk, go into MS-DOS, navigate to this directory, and type READ. This will start the READ.BAT batchfile, set up your MS-DOS window to (hopefully) recognize the Cyrillian fonts, and finally start a reading program so that you can page up and down while reading the newsletter on your screen. The faster, but inferior option, is to click here to read. Set your web browser to read Cyrillic (DOS) encoded text. (Using Internet Explorer, click View, Encoding, Cyrillic (DOS)). Wait for the encoding to load, interpret the text, and then, voilá! Inferior? Yes, the title will be badly interpreted. For some strange reason, the formating also comes out wrongly. Beyond this, it seems to come across just fine (though I cannot read the language!). If you are able to turn this newsletter into an ordinary web page, one that can be viewed with standard Cyrillic (Windows) encoding, and which prompts web browsers to open the correct encoding automatically, please send your version to Odd de Presno. He will store it as a replacement of this inferior procedure.
