Takashi Murai (10), Japan

The KIDS-94 Newsletter
Issue Number 1. September 3, 1993

in Japanese

Originally, this newsletter was distributed in MS-DOS text format accompanied by these viewing instructions:

About JIS-code Kanji

In order to be able to read this document, your computer or word processor must be running Japanese compatible software. Please set your terminal software to use the seven bit OLD JIS-code. (NOTE: BBS's and computer networks in Japan use Shift JIS, which is eight bit. Shift JIS will not work over the Internet. However, if you are accessing KIDLINK JAPAN from a network inside Japan, you need not change your terminal software settings.)

For more information about Japanese compatible software, please refer to the file KIDLINK KANJI. You can retrieve this file by sending an e-mail message to (listserv@vm1.nodak.edu) containing the following command:

GET KIDLINK KANJI

Since then, web browser technology has advanced much. Therefore, you may be able to view this text file with the Japanese fonts showing up correctly on your screen. If it doesn't, try set your web browser's encoding to "Japanese." (In Internet Explorer, selecting "Japanese Autoselect" should do.)
