Kidlink . Susan Lowell, L-Soft's Communications and
Marketing Coordinator:
"KIDLINK was chosen to receive the award because it empowers students to build their own world-wide community, giving them a unique opportunity to explore a multicultural environment while providing them with a place to experiment with their own Internet projects". The Norwegian Ministry of Education when announcing sponsorship of Kidlink's operations (1999): "The Ministry wants to contribute to diversity in learning resources on the Internet. In this connection, we see Kidlink as important." The Norwegian Ministry of Education when sponsoring development of the "I have a dream" program (Dec 1999): "The project is very interesting and might support many of our current objectives for developing quality in schools. These objectives include involving students in active practical work; more varied work modes; project work; cross-curricular cooperation; new business creation (Norwegian: "entreprenørskap"), etc." The College of Education at the University of Cincinnati provides Internet name service to kidlink.org, and has hosted the kidlink.org computer systems since March 1996: "We have been pleased to sponsor Kidlink because it is one of the truly pioneering organizations using the internet for education." North Dakota State University has supported Kidlink since the start: "North Dakota State University (NDSU) has supported Kidlink since 1990 as part of our mission. NDSU is what is known as a "land grant university" in the United States and sees its mission to include not only education and research but also outreach and service. Information Technology Services has provided the LISTSERV (tm) server support to Kidlink as part of its particular support for "K-12" education." infoDev (World Bank) supported Kidlink's KHouses in Brazil: "I am happy to recommend Kidlink to other donors as a vibrant and innovative approach to using ICT technology and educational pedagogy to reach out to low-income youth."
