Kidlink operates one of the worlds' largest fully virtual organizations.
By September 2000, it administered
-
86 public mailing lists in 19 languages
for conferencing using L-Soft's LISTSERV software, with web
interface
-
59 private mailing lists coordinating
the work of volunteers living throughout the
world
-
a private network for Real-Time
Interactions, including
-
a MUVS for collaborative projects
using the C2D application software, and Continuum 2D multimedia object-oriented
MUVS
-
a text-based multi-lingual IRC
server
-
a text-based two-dimensional MUSH
using the windows based Pueblo client
-
CU-SeeMe
-
several online art
exhibitions
-
The Coldfusion software (Allaire)
is used for handling of responses to the four questions, distributed budgeting,
and more.
-
a multi-lingual and mirrored web
with over 100,000 pages, including both an intranet and several
extranets.
Now, attack this infrastructure with
young, fast and creative fingers, fumbling keystrokes of those new to the
net and our services, external spam jockeys, computer virus attacks, and
season it with problems of scale in areas like translations, protection of
young persons, and "simple" sharing of information across language
boundaries.
To protect it all,
a dedicated behind-the-curtains group of technical volunteers: mailing list
administrators, data base experts, script writers, web masters, software
people, and trouble shooters.
These special people
have spunk. They work for
Kidlink in their spare time while having demanding jobs
in their "other" lives.
Background
Regularly,
Kidlink must bring these key volunteers together
face-to-face for brainstorming, planning and to fix urgent problems.
If you pay travel and
hotel expenses, then in return, these people will be yours for two
days.
Proposal
Kidlink requests US$ 15,000 to meet and work with your people for two days.
The money will be used to pay for
Kidlink participants' travels and
subsistence.
Five nights, food for four days, local travel.
After the meeting, we will arrange our private two-day internal conference
in the same city.
Alternatively, you may pay for travel,
hotel, and subsistence directly.
Offerings to sponsors
-
You will be given an opportunity
to present yourself, and your services/products to participants. The presentation
may be a workshop, some type of formal presentation, or some sessions
to test a new service or product.
-
You will be given a chance to meet
privately with the whole group or selected individuals for consultations
during the two days.
-
All sponsor support will be recognized
in
Kidlink's sponsor
pages.
-
All sponsors are authorized to have
links to
Kidlink's web site in their web pages. Please let such
links preferably go to

(our home page).
Beyond this, all sponsors
