at our school. It is called Hoa `aina `o Makaha, which means "The land shared with
friendship at Makaha." There is so much to see and do at our farm. Many boys and
girls from other schools come to visit and learn here. We welcome you to come and visit
us. You may visit us at our school web site. It is:
http://www.k12.hi.us/~makaha Enrichment students From Myrneth Ayabe Aloha from Makaha Elementary School in Hawaii: (Ayabe & Ford) Our students returned this week from
their fall school break . They would like to let you know more about the farm at our
school. We hope that you have visited our web site to see the pictures of our farm. The
web site address is: http://www.k12.hi.us/~makaha The students each chose a topic about the farm. Here is Chapter 1. The Gazebo by Samuel The gazebo is where Kumu Kiaha teaches us Hawaiian and helps us understand what it
means. Sometimes it is for when it rains so you can go under. He works hard so he can
teach us. I like to go there because it is cool. The color is brown. The Hale by Pai The farm hale (house) was built by a lot of people. Some people took a lot of their
time off just to build it. We raised a lot of money to build it. Actually we raised a lot
of pennies at our farm open house. It will be opened pretty soon. This week Friday is the
blessing of the farm hale. The Herb Garden by Sarah On the farm there is a herb garden. When you go inside you will find some herbs and
when you are pulling weeds you can tell by the smell. If you smell a weed it has no smell.
If you grab a herb you know it is a herb. There are lots of things to do in the herb
garden. Have fun! The Carpentry Shop by Toni Our carpentry shop is a part of our school farm. The carpentry shop is a room where
sixth graders make wood shelves, cubbie holes, or things we might need in our classes.
They also make their own creations. There is alot to do and it's really fun too! Square Gardens by Toni Our square gardens at the farm are really neat because our fifth graders plant alot of
different plants. They do a lot of fun things with the plants. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We hope you enjoyed this chapter about our school farm. Check the mail for the next

here accept for the great crime rate , to tell the truth if people could understand each
other South Africa would be a better place to live in . We are still moving into a better
nation . As a South African I believe that we must give other people a chance to speak on
what they believe in , because if we don't than that's when people fight Nature wise our
country is beautiful , accept that we don't get enough rain and we have lot's of pollution
, but saccept for that it is beautiful. Our country is devide up in nine province's namely

of crime rate... I'll write to you guys later See you later bye boikarabelo staat From "Tammerin L. du Preez" Bloemfontein is actualy very beautiful in the Summer but in winter everything is kind
if dead. Living in a bording school isn't bad. During the week every grade has their own
curfue mine, the grade 9 curfue is at 9.30pm. We wake up to bells and we have bells to
signal that it is supper, lunch or breakfast. We also have bells to tell us that it is
study time and that we should be be in the study hall. It is also like having a really big
family of sisters around you. Weekends we usualy go to the movies and to town. We have a
bedroom to share between 2 girls. Living on the school premises is not too bad because you
have a swimming pool right by you plus all your extra mural activites are right there.
Well That's what hostel life is like. Enjoy your day, Tammerin From Oppdal Secondary8b With Some 800 mounds, Vang is Norway's largest ancident burial ground. There was a

Fluttum Myran and Ida Skarsheim. From Manako Hamada Earthquake When I was 7 or 8 years old, there was a huge earthquake in a city called Kobe in
Japan. Many people died and we had many friends in Kobe so we were very worried. When I
was 8 years old, there was an earthquake in my city, Chiba. The ground moved and the
apartment moved side ways. I couldn't stand because the ground moved very hard. It was the
daytime when I was going to school so I was very scared because my mother wasn't there
with me and I was only 8 years old. We never know that when the earthquake will come so we
practice in school, how to survive an earthquake. We put on something that looks like a
hat because when something falls off from the ceiling, it would be safer if we put on the
hat. We keep that hat under the chairs. from Manako ISA From Mihori Arai INCOME OF MY PREFECTURE I think the most important income in my village in Japan is from farming because in our
prefecture fruit is famous so farming is very important. The main fruit are grapes and
strawberries. When it is the season for grapes people came from another prefecture and
pick grapes. When it's the season for strawberries people came from another prefecture
too. In my town it's a tourist attraction. So lots of people come to see or come to pick
grapes and strawberries. People always came by car or a sightseeing tour bus. But the air
is always fresh because we have lot of nature. From Delmar Elementary School Dear Mrs. Liz, I have always lived in the two states. I don't know what it is like living in one
state. State street is the part of the town that is Delaware, and Maryland. Most people
live on state street like me. It don't matter if the criminal crosses the road the police
can go catch them. The police can go cathch them even if they go out of the state. Delmar
Elementary is on the Maryland side. The high school is on the Delaware side. Your Friend, Shawn Frye From Delmar Elementary School Hi everybody, I live in Laurel, Delaware. We have major hunting areas. We have very busy roads. Its

candy that is about 1/2 inches in diameter and is different colors. It is as hard as a
lollipop, but doesn't have one part of it to be soft. Yes, we have a lot of things in our
school farm that is very fun to see. We have several animals such as, goats, rabbits,
ducks, parrots and fish. One of our helpers is Mr. Gigi who was born in Italy, but now
makes his home next to our school. Someday I hope I can work in our farm store because it
will be a lot of fun and a good learning experience for me. From Justin From "Tammerin L. du Preez" Hey Lexi How are you lately? Thanx for the mail. What is your mail adress at home? Then
I can mail you there aswell as here. My week has been hectic cause it is Exams next week!
Last night was realy interesting. I went to the Jean Webber Home as an out- reach program
at our Hostel. The home is for the disabled, it was nice as well as sad. Afterward we went
to Hadedaal, It is in the Bloemfontein Townships, we went to go feed street kids, they
were so cute but you should have seen how they clutched there burgers, Some didn't want to
eat them yet because they were scared that the burger would be finished others ate as fast
as they could incase of the chance that there would be seconds, some had never seen
burgers before! They said It felt like Christmas was coming early. Those kids are so
scrawny and they take any chance they can to hold your hand or even give you a hug. I
apretiate my life alot more after that! I'm realy glad that I had the opertunity to go
there though. Sorry if I am boring you but that is what is going on in some parts of

quite nice and important towns: Reggio Emilia and Parma. PARMA's about 25 km from
Cavriago. The other town is Reggio Emilia which is about 8 km far. Reggio Emilia is near
the Appennines and on clear days you can see the Alps. It has 134.000 in habitants. It is
a very old town it was founded by the Romans And called Regium Lepidi. It is on a very
important Roman road Via Emilia which linked Piacenza to Rimini. Furthermore in Reggio
Emilia was devised the Italian Flag in 1797. I like my town because it's a green town. And
expecially ther's a sportscentre where I can meet my friends!! BYE GABBO From Liz Exton Hi Gabbo, Thank you for telling us so much about where you live. I found out a lot

of pictures of Cavriago here! http://www.comune.cavriago.re.it/
You'll have to help us with the words, Gabbo, because I can't speak Italian. The pages
about "Storia e Territorio" look very interesting. That means "History and
Land", doesn't it? Oh! and here's something very nice! Parmesan Cheese or Parmigiano: http://www.parmigiano-reggiano.it/ It's in
English and Italian, so we can all understand;) I'm glad you mentioned that your flag was
