What Do We Want to Be When We Grow Up Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary, Maryland 5th Graders Hi! We are the 5th grade students at Dent Elementary School in Mechanicsville, MD. We have been working on the Who Am I project weeks 3 & 4. We have been talking about what we want to be when we grow up and what type of business we would like to start. We decided on a school calendar business. We agreed on the following jobs and responsibilities: Calendar Manager: keeps everyone on task, orders all supplies, makes all final decisions on the look of the calendar, makes sure that all deadlines are met, does final proofreading of the calendar, must be organized and responsible. Sales/Advertising: sells the calendar, meets with customers, creates ads to tell about the calendar, must be friendly and outgoing Designer: decides on how the calendar should look, creates apealing patterns and designs, puts together eye catching pictures and colors, must be creative and artistic Photographer: take pictures of students, teachers, and faculty members, develop all pictures, deliver pictures, touches up all photographs (get rid of red eye etc.), must be knowledgeable and creative, and friendly and dependable Researcher: finds out what important events need to be on the calendar, surveys people to find out what types of pictures they would like, must be organized and friendly Typist: type all events onto calendar, type captions under pictures, create any print advertisements or news releases related to the calendar, must be able to type accurately and quickly, good speller and good with grammar Binder: produce the final, bound copy of the calendar, must be able to organize and use the book binding machine If anyone out there would like to apply for any of the above jobs please send us a message telling us why you would be good for the position.
