In Hvide Sande there is a lot to do for young people, you can play football, handball, Tennis, swimming, aerobic and a lot more. Hvide Sande is tourist place where many Germans have come to enjoy the vocation. So we have a lot of shops even though we are a little town! Many of the young people in Hvide Sande play sport and in the weekends they go to Søndervig for the disco! In Hvide Sande there lives about 4000 people. There are two schools in Hvide Sande one for children from age 6 to 12, and one for pupils from age 6 to 16.

The weather!

In West Jylland the weather is very fresh and winding! The wind is normal from west-north/west. In the summer time we can go to the beach for swimming and sunbathe! In the summer time the temperature is up on 25 C. and in the winter it’s getting down on 10 C.

Welcome to Hvide Sande. In Hvide Sande we’ve got a population of 3500, but in the summertime we are about 50000 (with Søndervig), because a lot of tourists come here. Hvide Sande is parted by the middle by a lock. The people who are working in Blåtårn (A tower where the people who works with the lock works), decides when the lock are open or down. When the lock is open, it’s open about 15 minutes. The meaning of the Lock is: when there aren’t enough salt in Ringkøbing Fjord the lock opens, and saltwater streams into the fjord. If you go to the other side of the fjord, there are a pretty big city called Ringkøbing. In Ringkøbing are there many fashion stores, and other boutiques. Between Hvide Sande and Ringkøbing is Søndervig. A "vacation place" with A LOT of Beach Houses, and cottages. Some of them you can loan, but there are also private owners but most of the time they’re earning money, renting the houses out. In Søndervig is there a bowling alley, Beach Bowl. In Beach Bowl is there Stand Up Comedy about every 2nd month, then many Danish stand up comedian’s come and tell their jokes! Also pop stars come to Beach Bowl.

We would like to perform Hvide Sande as a holiday city. In Hvide Sande are there many interesting things to do. You can for example see our Lighthouse, Aquarium, Swimming-hall, the Football stadium, Beach Bowl (a place where you can play Bowling) Two of our best Restaurant is: Restaurant Slusen are serving, Fish, Pommes frites, and Mackerel. And then there is La Barca that is that Restaurant that is the Oldest in the whole city. They are serving Pizza, Beer, Cola, And Spaghetti, Yom. If you like to swim can we go to the Swimming Hall or North see (a family place where there are many times of fun). If you are very sporty you should go to our stadium, where you can play: Football, Tennis, Basketball, Hockey and last Handball.

Dear Daniel, Dennis and Anders,

We are in the third grade and we are 8 and 9 years old. Mrs. Weeg helped us read your letters. We think that we have many things in common with your area. Not far from us there is a town at the beach called Ocean City. Many tourists come there in the summer for vacation. We can swim at our beach and there is a boardwalk and there are amusement rides for everyone. In SØNDERVIG do you have a boardwalk and amusement rides? There are condominiums that are rented to the tourists for a week or two in the summer.

We have never seen a lock. Is it big? The word fjord is new to us, too. Why does the fjord need more salt water? Craig wants to know if you drain the salt from the fjord and use it and then drink the fresh water?

There are light houses in the Chesapeake Bay which is not too far from us either. The Bay is on our west and the Atlantic Ocean is east of our town. We found you on our map. You live on the coast and we are almost on the coast, too. It takes us about 35 minutes to drive from our town to Ocean City.

Thank you for telling us about the fjord. Your temperature in the summer reaches 25C. Vernette thinks this is about 77F. She is right! We checked on the web.
