WELCOME TO ARGENTINA

We are located in the southern part of America and our latitude is 22 degrees to 55 degrees. Our neighbours are Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia. The name Argentina means silver.

There are 35 millions inhabitants people in our country and our capital is Buenos Aires, 17.500.000 people live here.

We speak Spanish and some other native languages. Regarding religion, many people are Catholic. Our currency is the Peso.

Our flag has in the middle a white stripe with a sun and two outside ones colour sky blue.

If you come to Argentina you will see many regions such as: The Puna, the Patagonian Atlantic, the Patagonian andes, the Pampa, Buenos Aires, etc.

Bye.....
Sebastian Robles and Rocio Rodriguez

The central part of Argentina is called Pampa, land of the gaucho. The gaucho wears baggy trousers, sombrero or beret, handkerchief around the neck, spurs and a sharp knife hanging from his belt.

He uses his boleadoras to tangle cows legs and immobilize them. The boleadoras are three stones tied together with a rope. He rides horses and plays the guitar and sings songs round the fire (fogon) eating asado. This is the best place to eat asado because there are the best cows in the world. Asado can be roasted in different ways: alone or with a sauce called chimichurri.

The most popular desserts are alfajores of Cordoba and Mar del Plata, biscuit filled with dulce de leche and covered with vainilla or chocolate.

In our Pampa you can go fishing in lagoons such as Chascomus and you can go mountaniering, trekking and horseback trips through the mountains ranges of Cordoba and Buenos Aires.

Matias Simionatto and Martin Corvera

The northwest region of Argentina is very beautiful, it is a region of high peaks and mountains, here is the "Aconcagua"-the stone centinel- and snowcapped volcanos. There are also typical animals: llamas and guanacos.

You can have a great time here because you can climb mountains, go fishing, and the snow fields are ideal for mountain Winter sports.

If you get hungry you can eat locro, tamales and empanadas (meat pies). The regional cooking here is spicy with "choclo" (corn), spicy chillies and charqui meat (meat with the fat removed and dried in the sun). For desserts mazamorra, dulce de cayote, and chancaca de quesillo .

Bring some money because you can go shoping, and also buy ponchos made of sheep wool, llama or guanaco or garnment woven from the wool of alpaca and vicuņa.
