Dear Liz

I think parents shouldn't limit the number of hours to watch tv because tv is a good thing to watch, it depends on what you are looking at because, say I'm looking at a scary movie and your parents say cut it off not your parents your sister. My parents like looking at scary movies the only reason they don't want you looking at it because it gives you bad dreams but when i look at it i don't dream about it, but I'm scared to sleep by myself and sometimes on tv I look at some true stories on tv.

Sincerely
Shamika

Dear Shamika,

Thank you for writing. I think almost everyone likes scarey movies;) If you're _not_ scared to go to sleep afterwards, it wasn't a scarey movie, right? You're old enough to know that the things in the movies aren't real. Do you think younger kids should watch them? How old do you think you have to be?

Dear Liz,

I think you should be 10 or 11 and up to watch scary movies. I think younger kids shouldn't watch it because they are going to be scared to go to sleep. When I watch scary movies it may be fake but I am still scared because it looks real.

Sincerly,
Shamika
Have a nice Christmas.

Dear Kids,

Hi. My name is Melissa Cook. Do all of you kids have a certain time, set by your parents, when? I don't because I really don't have much to do at night. Do you think parents should limit tv watching? I don't think so! Well write and respond to some of my questions? Well bye.

Your friend,
Melissa Cook

Thank you for writing. Do your parents have a set time when they say "OK Melissa, time for bed now. It's school tomorrow."? Is that the same as limiting your tv? Is it part of the "job" of a parent to say things like that? Will you say those things when you are a parent?!

your friend,
Liz

P.S. To everybody: Let's all answer Melissa's question! What time do your parents say you have to be home (or in bed)? Find out the times for everyone in your class, work out the average time. Then let me know and I'll make it into a table. You'd better tell me your ages, too. Who knows? you might be able to use this in discussions with your parents!

Dear Liz and everybody,

No, I do not have a certain time to go to bed. I go to bed whenever. I'm 10. I think I should go to early but I don't. I think that tv should be limted. I would have this:

  1. Be home or in bed by at least 10:30
  2. No throwing a fit for stupid things
Well bye.
Your friend,
Melissa Cook

Dear Friends,

No, I don't have a certain time to be home on the weekend. I think that that rule is fair becuase I never really go anywhere, If I do I spend the night.

No, there is really no certain limit to watch t.v. for me. Well sometimes it depends on the channel you watch for too much violence.

Well my parents really don't care what I watch, as long as it is not that bad. But I really don't want to watch bad movies.

I like to buy my lunch, cause I like to eat hot lunch, not cold. I think you should, well actually it doesn't really matter becuase it doesn't effect them really.

I think those illnesses are terrible becuase they will die. You cannot get it through their heads that they are skinny.

Brittany

Hello Brittany,

Thank you for your letter. You've raised some interesting points. What do you think is too much violence? Some people think there's too much violence in cartoons like "Tom and Jerry"! Does it depend how old you are? Is it different for boys and girls? What if it's a movie about a real event and the violence is just to show what really happened?

Liz

A reply from Brittany in Delmar. Who agrees with her views on violence on tv?Liz

Dear Ms. Liz, Hi, how are you? I got your letter today. I think Ren and Stimy is very voilent! The movie that is voilent are those Martial Combat, and those Scream movies. I don't really watch Ren and Stimpy, it's just a stupid show. I think that it won't influence girls as much as it would for boys. Well I better Go! Please Write Back!

Brittany Joseph

Dear Friends,

No I don't have a certain time when I have to home on the weekend. I don't think that is a very good rule because children should have rights too as well as woman and men.

Yes I think parents should limit TV because it could ruin your eyes.

Well I really don't care what I watch.

I decide what I eat for lunch. I either pack my lunch or buy mylunch.

Yes I think some drugs are dangerous because you can die from taking drugs if you are not carefull.

Hello Jennifer,

Thanks for your letter. I'm sure you pack a nice healthy lunchbox, but do you think most people your age know what are the good things to eat? Or would they fill their lunchboxes with candy?

bye!
