Provide Evidence!

You must provide evidence that stopping violence is important
(to the politicians themselves).

"The other boy was just looking at him get beat up. The next day Geoffrey told me what happen and
when I went to school the boy told everybody and was laughing at him. I got mad and said if you
was a friend you would have did something so you need to be quit.
" by Deandre (16), U.S.A . 2004

"You must provide evidence" - means that you must help increase public knowledge of the negative effects of violence, of the lies and manipulations that might seem to justify violence. Ideas:
  • find Kidlink kids living in countries with much violence, or in countries where a violence has recently been reduced. Listen to their personal stories. Good stories may be of interest to your collaborators in the journalists/writers community. For example, they might combine good personal stories with dry statistics of the number of kids against violence to make a more readable text or interview or show.
  • monitor what your local news say about ongoing violence. Check with alternative sources to see if the news is correct, or misleading and manipulating. Contact the news media to have mistakes corrected, or complain by sending an article to your local newspaper.
  • help your schoolmates get a clear idea of what is happening. Your class or school magazine/newspaper may be an effective means. Do not give up. We must fight together for a better world!
