Holding The Meeting

Let your students be at the meeting place
10 minutes before it starts!

Check list for meeting hosts:

  1. Who are present? Where do they live? Who are they?
  2. State the meeting's topic. Explain your role as meeting host.
  3. Time available for this discussion. Minutes will be produced/published after the meeting, how, and why.
  4. Ask participants what, when, how, where, who to get the discussion going.
  5. Make sure all views are heard. Make sure those not having English as a first language are heard!
  6. Stimulate discussion using questions and comparisons.
  7. Periodically, summarize conclusions for participants. (Summaries may also be used to redirect discussion if it gets too far off the track.)
  8. If relevant, make sure there's enough time devoted to making/discussing a joint action plan (how, where, when, who, how).
  9. Summarize all new ideas and conclusions
  10. Should we meet again?
  11. Thank you and see later!

Let them run the meeting their way. Discuss experiences afterwards.
