Translating the Text

Special characters | The text | Links | Images | Final check!

Gray (13), USA

Best is to simply overwrite the English text with your translation. The danger of using this method is that you may accidentally remove or destroy hidden codes, like anchors.

FrontPage has a useful feature that lets you avoid falling into this trap. Click View | Display Codes, and all the hidden codes in the document are displayed on your screen. Now, it is easy to translate the text safely. Also, with FrontPage it is easy to change the text on the links on this page. Just overwrite the current link text with your translations.

Other web editors may force you into working at the page's source (html) to avoid these problems. This is cumbersome because of all the codes on the page, but some translators prefer it this way. In FrontPage 2002, changing to the source level is easy: Click at the HTML tag at the bottom of the window displaying overview.html.

Do not translate the name Kidlink into your language! Also, use the name with the given colors.
Translating text in images  is a challenge. You may have to ask for help. First, review this introduction. How to do depends on the kind of graphics imaging tool you are using. There are many, including Microsoft Image Composer and Paintshop Pro. Good luck!

Hint: If the personal pronoun 'you' may be translated in several ways, translate it as a singular, unless context suggests otherwise.
