Translating the 1STQUESTION.html links

There are several links on this page. Some require special handling:

  • Kidlink Nations. This Kidlink is rarely being translated into other languages because it changes so often. Keep the link as it is.
  • RESPONSE Searcher. Keep this link for now.

At the bottom of the page, there is what we call a "footer." Here, it has this contents:

If this is the first page translated, do not worry about these links. Translate the text, and go to the bottom of this page to continue with the next page of this workshop.

Later, when more pages are translated

One day, the Who-am-I? portal will be available in your language, and the link to this page must be changed to reflect this. Before this is so, this link goes to /kie/nls/index.html at www.kidlink.org. This is a relative web address. If your language is Harka, then the translation may be at /kie/nls/indexha.html

The following method of of correcting and changing links is foolproof, and may be used with any editor:

  1. Using FrontPage, click 1STQUESTION.html into HTML mode. Search for <A href="/ until you find your translation of the text Who-am-I? portal.
  2. Change the link to /kie/nls/index.html so that it goes to http://www.kidlink.org/kie/nls/indexxx.html. If your language was called harka, and the page you want to link to is called indexha.html, simply change the file name in this code by typing in the correction. Save the result.
  3. Load the translated page in your web browser, connect to the Internet, and check the link to see if it works.
  4. When OK, log off from the net, remove the http://www.kidlink.org part of the link you changed, and save the page. You are done!
Example: The link to http://www.kidlink.org/kie/nls/indexxx.html should now be /kie/nls/indexxx.html

When there are several translated pages, you may find it useful to check the more extensive hints at the page for translation of the general introduction.
