Finding Translated Pages:
The dirinfo Method

A page called dirinfo.html is supposed to exist in
the directory where your translation is to be saved.
It lists all pages in the directory, all related
English language source pages, and
translators. See this example.

Cassio Augusto (12), Brazil , 1998

If a dirinfo.html page is not present, request that it be made. It is made by copying the English language dirinfo.html page from the source directory to the destination directory. The title is edited to reflect its new location, and translated pages added as they appear. The dirinfo.html is useful for checking translation progress, and by visitors to find information that is hard to locate.

Method: Check the dirinfo.html page in your target areas on the web to see what translated pages are available. When changing links, make sure you use relative addresses.

Double check to see if you are using a correct file name when linking to a translated page. Do not change links assuming that a translation exists!

If the translated pages your page is supposed to link to are not available, please report to your language area's manager giving: the address of the page, address of the document you are trying to link from, and request that you be told whenever the page has been translated.

Note: Adding or subtracting links from translated pages requires approval of Kidlink's Executive Director.
