Use Of Special Characters
If text in your language is encoded using
a special character set , like Chinese, Arabic, and Russian, we must
take steps that instruct browsers to change settings accordingly. Usually,
this is taken care of by a special hidden file called .htaccess, stored in
the top folder of translations. The .htaccess of our Chinese language
pages has the following contents:
In addition, pages should be marked with their use of language and .html encoding (In Frontpage: File | Properties | Language). Translation of the (hidden) TITLE and DESCRIPTION texts calls for special attention as it may be impossible to translating these in the html of the pages. In FrontPage, translate at "File | Properties | General" for TITLEs, and at "File | Properties | Custom" for descriptions (name: descriptions. Translation to be entered in the "Value" box.".
