Idea for Parents
Michel (14), Russia
|
| In November 2000, a 16-year old Malay boy approached
Kidlink offering
to translate key information into Malay (Bahasa Melayu). A week later, there
was a link to information in Bahasa Melayu from
Kidlink's
top pages. At the bottom of each translated page, there's now a note recognizing
him for the contribution. Translating was also language training, web design
training, and time to digest how
Kidlink
works.
Why not ask your kid to help translate into your language? Besides giving them an opportunity to get new friends, it may also pave the way for other exciting opportunities within Kidlink's organization of volunteers. ApproachIf learning English tops the list, the best may be to translate pages in this sequence:
If meeting friends tops the list, then #2 above may be extended, and supplemented with preparations to open a Kidcafe in your language. If interested, write Odd de Presno.
