Final Check

  1. LINKS and IMAGES: Search the source of your translated page (in html) for the string "http://www.kidlink.org". If this string exists in your links, remove them as instructed in the Translating links workshop page (using relative links, at the very top).
  2. IMAGES: Search the source of your translated page (in html) for the string "img SRC=". Check if a path is given in front of the image file names, as in the example below (path to the image is marked with red color):
    <img SRC="/english/general/d-x1-a.jpg" height=125 width=230>
    1. If no paths are given, chances are that you have forgotten to save the source document as recommended. You must search the source document to find paths to include in your translation.
    2. If the path to the image is provided as "d-x1-a.jpg" in the source document (without a path in front of the file name), then prefix the file name with /english/general/. This is necessary to show the image. (If translating pages in another directory, replace /english/general/ with the path of the source directory.)
  3. LINKS: Search the source of your translated page (in html) for the string "<a href=". Check if a path is given in front of the web page's file names, as in this example (path to the file is marked with red color): <a href="/english/general//kidart.html">
    1. If no paths are given, chances are that you have forgotten to save the source document as recommended. You must search the source document to find correct paths to include in your translation.
    2. Check if paths to pages that have been translated are correct. Example: If <a href="/english/general//index.html"> has been translated into your language, and the path to the translation is /russian/general/, then the code should be corrected to become <a href="/russian/general//index.html">
  4. ENCODING: Have you saved your translation using the character set of the language you are translating to? Example, if translating into Russian, select "Cyrillic (Windows)" in the "Code" window!
