For those storing the page on Kidlink's web

Save the translated pages in the corresponding area for this language. For example, the translations into Chinese are stored at /chinese/kidcom/.

Kidlink's web uses character set ISO-8859-1 (called "Western European" or "Latin 1"). If your language's characters are incorrectly displayed in browsers set for "Western European" encoding, a file named .htaccess must be stored in the /xxxxx/kidcom/ directory. Replace "/xxxxx/" by the name of the language's top folder's name.

The .htaccess file has 1 line identifying the character set on these pages. It makes visitors' browsers to change encoding accordingly. The Chinese language .htaccess file contains:

AddType "text/html; charset=gb2312" .html

Replace gb2312 by the code for your language, or to whatever other code that has been used to encode the characters (Example: Nepali is written using UTF-8 on our site). Use Notepad to create a plain .htaccess that is free of hidden html or formatting commands.

When a full translation is saved at kidlink.org, ask Odd to make links to the translation at http://www.kidlink.org/english/kidcom/index.html and help.html.

Finally, the user interfaces of KidCom and KidMail need to be translated using a special web based form.
