Illustrating Web Pages
Kidlink's objective is "global networking for youth through the secondary school level." Let your illustrations reinforce this objective. Select an image or photo with a theme supplementing and/or reinforcing the text on the web page you are creating.
If your page is for youth, avoid illustrations that youth may perceive as "too childish."

Your picture should be either in JPEG (.JPG) or CompuServe GIF format. Select the format that creates the smallest file size. Often, JPEG files are best for showing photos, while GIF may be best for art.

File size is a concern as we must always expect some users to have a very slow link to our web site and mirrors. If a picture file is 10,000 characters in size or less, then you should be OK, though half of this is even better. Your art program may allow you to select a reduced quality of the picture when you save it. If this does not destroy the impact of the illustration, consider this to keep file size down.
