The administrator of
Kidlink's mailing lists
are called "owner." This page explains to potential helpers what is needed
to make a mailing list work well.
-
Provide information at
www.kidlink.org
that presents the mailing list and its purpose.
For example, the owner of Kidcafe-Chinese should have a Chinese language
web page presenting the forum, and what goes on
there.
-
Help
subscribers with practical problems,
and respond to requests for help. Problems may include signing off from the
list (the user have forgotten how to do it), and to
subscribe. -
Includes adding or deleting subscribers (when asked, or
necessary).
-
Keep subscribers informed on what
goes on within
Kidlink.
-
Approve
messages from
outsiders.
Mail from non-subscribers will be sent to the
administrator for approval. Here are some kinds of messages that will typically
not be approved:
-
Commercial advertisements with contents that do
not match the purpose of the list (noise)
-
Messages in another
language.
-
Invitations to indecent
activities
-
Foul language or offensive
manners
-
Block unwanted
users from sending mail to a list. For
example, because the person will not follow
Kidlink's rules even after
we have asked him to stop.
-
Build and
maintain your online community. It will not flourish
on its own. Your role as a human facilitator is key to
success.
