Language Area Management
An overview of the Language Area Manager's work is provided in the "Kidlink in your language" pages.

The manager's main job is to make the language area active, interesting, and useful for its users. To achieve this, we recommend that you recruit a team of volunteers to help. Usually, the more volunteers you can recruit, the better. So, don't stop when you think you have enough.

Here are some ideas about what your team can do:

Translate key Kidlink web pages   You cannot expect all your users to understand English, and even if they are good at English, they may still want to read introductory information in your language.

Translate educational programs Kidlink has many educational programs. We recommend that you to start with the Who-Am-I? program. It is well documented, has an online workshop that teachers might use for self-study, has extensive curriculum links, runs in parallel in many languages, offers many contributions made by previous youth participants, and also serves many other important purposes.

Sell your language area using the web Unless you tell people about your language area, they will not find it, or know your offerings. It is as simple as that:
Present your area's offerings.
Strategy guidelines.
Submit news for our newsletter (Hints)
Approve responses submitted in your language We are asking kids and youth to answer Kidlink's four questions, so chances are that someone soon will. You must be the one - helped by your team - who will review the responses in your language, and approve them if acceptable. In the process, you will delete messages that have been submitted by clever sales people, responses that contains inappropriate material, or has been submitted by a person who is clearly too old.
About.
Response approval form (password required).
Open and administer mailing lists There are so many kinds of people out there. Here are some common challenges, and hints about how to handle them. For example, spam mail (unwanted and irrelevant sales messages) will try to get to your mailing list. We have features that allows us to stop this - to protect your users' interests - but someone must do it. It cannot be done automatically.
Then, there are the occasional request for help from a user. Maybe her email address has changed, and she don't know what to do? Or, has some other practical or technical problem.

Policies.
Organize interactive sessions in your language Kidlink is not the open Internet chat zone. Usually, someone in a language area organizes regular chats or "meetings." This person will invite to the meeting, and maybe moderate the action.
Overview.
Recruit and train volunteers to help The good news is that there are so many things you can do to find people to help you. Also, the award for each volunteer you get has more value than the sum of the efforts of the two of you. Volunteers usually have a personal network, and before you know it, their friends will be knocking on the doors.
Overview.
Recruit list coordinators (owners).
Ad 1 (translation required).
Ad 2 (translation recommended!!)
Who-Am-I? language coordinator.
Kidlink's needs (consider translating it).
Recruit kids and youth to help.
Recruit helpers for user support.
Maintain an overview of your language organization.
Recognize outstanding helpers.
Provide user support Here are some information pages to help you with your work:
The Tips page.
Answer requests for help.
When the kids receive no replies.

Share experiences with peers in Kidhub

Kidhub is a private mailing lists for Kidlink's language area managers, and some key helpers. Do not be afraid of asking questions, and contribute your experiences there. Why they might appear threatening and awfully experienced from the outset, they're just a human person like you and me. You will find them busy, but very positive and friendly!

General hints.
