Avoid Duplication
Of Effort

| Our web site is large, and so many things
have already been described, somewhere out there. Before describing somewhere
that has been written elsewhere, consider making a link instead. This is
particularly important when describing a service, or some technical aspect
of
Kidlink.
Why? Because some day this information will undoubtedly change, and your page will be "hanging" there with outdated information. You may have forgotten about it, so even if you're told about the change, there's no way you can remember to update your page... Example: Once upon a time, Odd had a short page giving overview information about Kidlink. It grew into many pages, and at one point he had to update 20 different pages each time the number of participating countries changed. Today, he's using this page to deliver such information, and have links to this page from elsewhere whenever needed. How? Whenever you need to write something that might give a future maintenance problem, use the search engine |
