Tap Your Student Resource

Bring in selected students from your class as helpers. These gifted students will often get well ahead of the demands of the curriculum and need to be given extra motivation to continue the development of their skills and knowledge. Some probably have computers at home, and Internet connections both at school and at home. Often, clever kids open doors for the others in their class. - At the end of the school year, consider giving them some formal recognition of their contributions

In Kidlink, there are KHelpers active on several levels:

  1. In classes, serving the teacher and fellow students. Typical tasks: help present and post student contributions; classroom management of computers. Keep teachers abreast of developments in modern technology.
  2. In schools, serving several classes and teachers
  3. Online, serving Kidlink users around the world. Examples:  The Portuguese language area's KHelper teams. The Spanish language area's KHelper team.

Involve students in assessment of their own performance.  Consider ways of making knowledge gained by KHelpers available for your next class.

Next level: Learn more by supporting other teachers
Also, consider involving parents and seniors
