How Kidlink Works (2)
"[Friendship] is the
bound between two people that have the same interest. They look up to each
other and respect each other. They know each others likes and dislikes and
hang out together all the time. Friends tell each other secrets that they
would not tell anyone else. They understand each other and care for each
other and have fun. " |
| When a someone posts a message to
a KidCom room, it is recorded, and becomes a part of the room's discussion
history. When posting to a mailing list, a copy is sent to each member of
that list, and becomes part of the archives of the list. Therefore, there
is no need to keep all the emails one receives.
In some educational projects, interactive dialogs are recorded
and published, but most discussion history is not made public to non-registered
users.
The Kidlink announcement lists bring regular announcements about what goes on. The Response mailing list distributes an abstract of approved registrations. These lists are read-only Kidcafe on KidCom is for interaction between participating kids only. The KidCom teacher rooms and Kidleader lists are for informal discussion about Kidlink-related topics among teachers and other adult leaders of Kidlink youth. They may also be used for activity coordination. The -COORD lists support teachers and other adults having youth in the related youth dialog areas. Kidlink uses a large number of private rooms and mailing lists to support the operations of the total activity. To all public mailing lists | Kidlink Institute/Education | Kidlink Institute/Research
