Kidlink in the Media
Search Challenge for Students

We know many articles are missing from our databases. For example, there may be media reports buried in Kidlink's mailing lists' archives that never made it there. Also, there are articles and media reports published on the Internet that we just never discover.

Why not grab this opportunity to teach your students some searching skills? Here are some hints:

Searching Kidlink's archives

Our mailing lists' archives contain megabytes of data, and the occurrence of an article in a magazine or a TV broadcast may have been reported in many ways. On the Kidlink announcement lists, they may have been made under a subject heading starting with "Media Report - <country name>," but we doubt that we have been consistent. These search terms may produce better results:

article
radio
TV
newspaper
magazine
newsletter

Searching the web

Try several search engines using combined search terms like "Kidlink" and "article". Compare results from search engines to learn about their effectiveness. Check this resource for hints about search engines to use.
