Keep Parents Informed |
| Some parents feel uncomfortable about letting
their children use the Internet. They fear abuse, and bad influences. Also,
your country may have laws requiring parental approval before you let your
students loose on the net.
We recommend that you meet with parents to explain your intent. Knowledge of Internet as a medium, and a source for information and knowledge, is increasingly being required by employers. Their children's future hinges on the extent to which, and how quickly, they adapt to, learn to live with, and exploit tomorrows technologies. In Kidlink, they will learn how to find and use information, solve problems, communicate with others. Kidlink is a volunteer network of concerned adults. We help kids and youth connect with peers in other countries, to exchange views and ideas, learn about other traditions and cultures. We support children's interactions with a wide range of educational projects and material. The interaction will train their kids in critical analysis of ideas, views, persons. They will make long-lasting friends in other countries. Together, they will share interesting and enjoyable experiences. To support this, true identities must be used. Anonymity is not allowed. Their new inter-personal networks will provide them with easier access to knowledge, means to share experiences, methods, test ideas, - and, most importantly - motivate them to read, write, and learn! Even if it is not required, ask for their permission. Also, ask for their help to enhance their kids' experience. Also: Notes about privacy |
