Who-Am-I?
"What Are My Roots?" And Decision Making

Relatives' choices often influence our choices in life.

"This picture was taken by my father in our house in Agdam City of Azerbaijan . I was 2 years old then. Three years later I and my family left Agdam as refugees running from Armenian soldiers.." Samir from Azerbaijan

Reflective thinking about the effectiveness of choices.

There was the II world wars and the German soldiers were everywhere. A day the brother of my grandmother was walking in a little street, when some soldiers were going to shoot them. My great-grandmother ran towards them saying don’t shoot them, so the soldiers spared their lives. My grandparents are very attached to food and money, because they lived in a different time, when everything was important! I think, our grandparents left us a good world. They teach us to respect everything. I would like a world for my children with a little air pollution and sea pollution; with more green and without envy and wars! I would like to maintain to stay all together on the celebrations, in the house of my grandparents, everybody on his place at table, like from a lot of years!!! I love this tradition! I think it is easer be children now, because at the time of our grandparents the children went to work very young, now instead the children go to school. To improve the world I can respect the nature and I can tell to my children beginnings of honesty and loyalty. Roberta from Italy , 2001.

My grandfather told me about the war. A lot of people died but my grandfather escaped because he simulated to be dead. My grandfather taught me to be generous. I think that our ancestors left us a easier word, because there are more technologies, that make life simpler. I will be a good father and I will teach my children to act in a good way. Mario from Italy , 2001.

The people usually move to get a better job and to have a better future. My father comes from Basilicata, from the south of Italy, and my mother comes from Veneto, in the north Italy. They found a lot of difficulties when they left their families. My father arrived here in 1966, my mother arrived in 1963. I have been to my mother's and my father's village. My father's parents live in Basilicata. Every summer I go on holiday to my father's village, Spinoso. It's very small village. I stay there about a month and I usually go to the beach where I meet friends. Daniela from Italy , 2001 (more...)

For me, when the people move nd leave their houses, thy are sad. Many of my relatives moved but now they are happy to stay near me and my family. My grandparents lived in Veneto and, about 10 years ago, they moved to Muggiò. I'd love to move to Sicilia or Sardegna because the climate is very hot and because the sea and the beaches are very very beautiful. BYE BYE Manuela 2° B, 12, Mmuggiò 2001
