Finding Friends
Your Next Steps

You have tried the tricks at Meet other youth in Kidlink, but with no luck . You are member of a Kidcafe, have said hello, but nobody writes you.

Now, visit Kidcafe, and search (at top of the page) for your nickname. Only your messages will appear . Read what you wrote, and reflect on why nobody has answered you yet.

Have you told who you are, hobbies, interests? Might other words do better, or some interesting examples ?. Have you said what you would like to know about others? Is your letter too short, or too long? If more than a screenful, then others may not bother to read it. One paragraph is usually too short. Restate what kind of friends you are looking for, and encourage others to make contact. Send your revised letter to the Kidcafe one more time.

By now, the others know who you are. There is no reason to send the letter again. Instead, focus on joining what they are doing: Read what they write. If someone sounds nice, says something interesting, ask her a question, make a meaningful comment, express interest. Remember that your questions will always be more meaningful to the others than what you say about yourself.

Help others whenever given a chance! In Kidlink, those who help are always popular. Consider joining as a volunteer helper to further increase your chance for finding a friend.

Consider joining areas and activities for youth that you have left out so far: Kidproj , or Chat services.
