Handling Conflicts

Art by Francesco (boy), Italy , 2002

You stumble into a fight with someone on the net, and now you want peace. Here are some ideas about how to get started:
  1. Use email rather than chat so that you get time to reflect on what the other person says.
  2. Ask the other person to explain the reasons for the anger. Request definitions, sources, and evidence of what the other person thinks you have done wrongly.
  3. Ask only a few questions in each mail, and make sure your words express your thoughts well..
  4. Keep your email short so that what you say becomes easier to understand.
  5. Remove words that might irritate the other person.

What others think:

Zeeshan from United Kingdom : if the person is being rude to you jut ignore them and carry on with whatever you are doing.

Francesca from Italy : The best thing is listening to the friends!!!! Then we must say them what we think about the problem!!!

Matteo from Italy : For me friendship it's never to tell : "I haven't time to help you".

Fabio from Italy : I think it's a good thing to love each other in peace without wars

Joy from United States : Take some time to think before sending your mails. Never respond while you are still angry

Epi from Puerto Rico : Never ever speaking in anger. In a written email, the words will be there forever.

Lára from Iceland : If you feel offended by someone, think first "This might be a misunderstanding based on language interpretation". The problem for those speaking a foreign language is that they can only say what they know how to say, but not what they want or intend to say. [More by Lára ]
